About Me          Asia
“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived."
Henry David Thoreau

My name is Asia. I come from Poland. After finishing my studies in English language teaching in Cracow I moved to Switzerland to live my dream of being close to the mountains. My work as a volunteer in an organic garden in Ireland  drew my attention to sustainability and environmental education. In 2015 I finished my further training as a Nature Education group guide at the Nature School in Freiburg in Germany. Presently I am aspiring to become a nature pedagogist.

The concern of nature pedagogy lies within the relationships between us -  human beings and our environment. These relationships are complex and multifaceted. As consumption and individualism have led to our alienation from Nature, nature pedagogy helps us to bring back balance and realise our dependence on her. We are part of Nature and she is part of us, i. e. we depend of her resources, we share many things with animals and plants. Nature is also a source of inspiration.

To find out more about nature pedagogy read works of Joseph Bharat Cornell .

I love spending time outdoors and listening to the awe-inspiring symphony of Nature. I believe that everyone can experience it. Especially children have the inborn ability to be seized in amazement. My task as a nature pedagogist is merely to guide them to discover the beauty and interconnections on their own and for themselves. What they need to do is to open their eyes and keep their ear to the ground. In this way they learn about the importance of environmental protection and that the fate of Nature is within their hands. By playing outdoors they also develop their social and personal skills such as self-reliance, resourcefulness, physical endurance, workmanship and responsibility for others. I love inspiring their natural curiosity and unfolding their joy of life. In my work I use whatever we can find outside that suits our imagination. Music and story-telling belong to our nature experience.
